Art Teacher Bagged Life Imprisonment For Defiling 6-Year-Old Pupil

Justice Sedoten Ogunsanya of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, Lagos, has on February 13, 2023, sentenced a teacher, Chukwu Ndubuisi, to life imprisonment for abusing and defiling a six-year-old pupil of Mind Builders School, Lagos.
Ndubuisi who was the school’s art teacher was adjudged guilty of a one-count charge of child defilement which was preferred against him by the state government.
Though, he had pleaded not guilty to the charge. But Justice Ogunsanya in her judgment maintained that the prosecution has proved his case against the defendant beyond every reasonable doubt as the fact, circumstances, and quality of evidence against the defendant were coercing.
Justice Ogunsanya stated that the first time the survivor told her mother of her experience was on the day she was discussing the case of a seven-year-old girl that was defiled and killed and which went viral.
She further stated that the survivor narrated her experience to her, pleading with her mother to keep the information to herself.

According to the court, her mother told the father after which they visited the school but they met Ndubuisi’s absence.
It was then her parents incident the matter at Omole Police Station, which investigated it, and conducted a test on the pupil at Ikosi Health Centre, which ascertained that she had been defiled.
The little girl also told the court that sometimes her teacher (defendant) asked her to remove her school uniforms.

She said, “he puts his “bumbum” into my “bum bum”, and another time, he called me into the art room, put me on the table, parted my panties, and put his thing into my thing”.
Justice Ogunsanya, however, dismissed the submission by defense witnesses that the incident could have been captured on the school’s security cameras.
The court upheld the result of the test conducted at the Mirabel Center which showed that the victim had a broken hymen and reddish vulva and that there was proof of forceful penetration.
The Judge convicted the defendant as charged and subsequently sentenced him to life imprisonment.
