The Delta State Sports Commission has officially unveiled the Delta Queens Football Club squad for the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season, setting a confident tone as the league prepares to kick off this weekend.
At the presentation ceremony held in Asaba, the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori, commended the players and technical crew for their commitment during preseason preparations.
He expressed optimism that the team is fully equipped to deliver an impressive campaign.
Hon. Oborevwori reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering support for women’s football, emphasising that Delta Queens has remained “a symbol of pride, resilience, and excellence” within and beyond the state.
He noted that the success of the team continues to inspire a new generation of young female footballers eager to pursue professional careers.
The 2025/2026 NWFL season is scheduled to commence on November 26, 2025, with Delta Queens set to open their campaign with a decisive away match against Nasarawa Amazons.
The fixture is expected to be a tough test as both sides aim to make an early statement in what promises to be a competitive and thrilling season.
Delta Queens, one of the league’s most consistent contenders, will be looking to build on their strong legacy as they chase domestic honours and reaffirm their status as one of Nigeria’s elite women’s football teams.
