The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has cautioned travellers against risk of plying routes ravaged by flooding.
Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, gave the advice following the downpour on August 13, 2023, that have increased the water level on some of the roads.
Dauda, advised travellers traveling through Abuja-Yola road and those traveling from Northeasten part of the country to the North-Central to ply alternative routes and avoid Bauch-Gombe route.
It was gathered that the August 13, 2023, downpour resulted in flooding on the Bauchi-Gombe road, which submerged the highway after a bridge collapsed.
The FRSC said, according to report gathered from our operatives from the field, there was a failed culvert at Kalajaga village.
Kalajaga is KM118 Bauchi-Gombe road whereby the heavy rainfall washed away the culvert between Bauchi to Gombe, making the road not motorable.
The culvert was completely washed away and road cut off while alternative route is advised, the FRSC corps marshal stated.
“Motorists from Abuja heading to Yola should go through Abuja-Jos-Bauchi-Darazo-Duku-Gombe-Yola. While Motorist from Yola to Abuja: should ply Yola-Gombe-Duku-Darazo-Bauchi-Jos-Abuja respectively,” he said.
