Moment of Truth: Not A Sudden Flight
MOMENT OF TRUTH with Richard.
By Richard Ugbeh –
Journalists at times scout for NEWS. At times news come on a platter of gold. What I intended to search in Sokoto is already in my “shokoto”. What else can I say, more than CONGRATULATIONS.
As I proceed, I remember the words of the late sage, High Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, “The height in which a big man attained wasn’t a sudden flight. When others were busy in Beer Palours rollicking with ladies of easy virtue, I was busy burning the Mid Night Candles” he ended by saying, why wouldn’t I be the First? Big question that doesn’t deserve any one’s answer.
Once again, BIG Congratulations to our very OWN, the son of the soil, Prof. Abel Nze Onunu, on your long service AWARD by the management of UBTH. Congratulations again on the well deserved appointment as the Pioneer VC of the prestigious First University in UKWANI NATION.
For this honour, your appointment brought to our community, Umuchime Ogume, Ogume general and the entire Ukwani Nation. I’m not a good Singer but I remember the first Stanza of a Christian song I cherished, “There’s a Melody in my heart today, Melody in my heart today ooo etc”.
Reaching the PEAK of one’s career wasn’t a joke, hence, the jubilation from, East, West, North & South.
It may also interest some of us that career and it’s peak differs. Take a look at these illustrations, a road side motor mechanic, Electrician, Tailor aka fashion designer that has Workshop to me has reached the PEAK of their careers, equally a farmer that was bestowed with the title of OGBUIJI to me also has reached the PEAK of his career.
What does it take to reach one’s career? Perseverance, courage, determination and supportive. Not a sudden Flight indeed. Road to success is full of contours, huddles that seems unsomultable to the man with chicken heart. “nwene omanasogoshi” We wish you the very best as you take leadership of this great institution.
