N2M Bounty: Police Arrest Lawyer For Dehumanizing 10 Year Old Housemaid

Nigerian Federal Ministry of Women Affairs has announced the arrest of a legal practitioner, Adachukwu Okafor, for dehumanizing her ten years old house help.

The lawyer who was arrested yesterday, was said to have tortured her 10-year-old housemaid by subjecting her to a severe body harm using a hot iron and a kitchen knife.

Recall that the Minister, Mrs. Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, placed a two million naira (N2, 000, 000.00) bounty to facilitate the arrest of the lawyer who had been on the run after she was declared wanted.

The Minister’s bounty paid off following a credible intelligence by members of the public which led to her arrest in Onitsha, Anambra State.

A statement by the Special Assistant on Media, to the Minister, Ohaeri Osondu, said the arrest took place in Onitsha, Anambra State.

It said, “In response to a viral video circulating on social media alleging that Okafor had been evading authorities prior to her arrest.

“The lady has been on the run for weeks after being reported to have inflicted severe injuries on the minor which prompted the Minister to offer a reward of N2 million for any member of the public who can come forward with information on her whereabouts. Osondu noted.

The Ministry, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, is initiating an immediate investigation into the incident, while the victim receives medical treatment in the hospital.
