Police Kill 10, Injure Others In A Shot Out With Daredevils In Delta
In what could be described as a major success against criminals, the Delta State Police Command has embarked on a ‘sting operation’, killing ten suspected armed robbers and kidnappers.
The incident took place on May 21, 2022, as the security forces swam into action following the killings and various attacks on innocent citizens and police personnel in the state by unknown gunmen.
A combined Squad of security operatives in the state at 0500hrs stormed the hideouts of the daredevil in the Kwale axis and engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun battle.

The hoodlums, armed with AK-47 rifles and charms, shot sporadically at the police on sighting them. The police ‘neutralized’ ten while others escaped with various degrees of gunshot injuries.
According to the statement by the state police command through its spokesperson, DSP Edafe Bright, five AK-47 rifles, six magazines, and one hundred and seventeen (117) rounds of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered.
The squad that successfully neutralized the criminal delivery network were State Anti-Kidnapping/Cybercrime Squad, Dragon Patrol Team, and Rapid Response Squad.
Others were Anti-Cult Volunteers from Agbor, Ekwoma, Igbodo, Ibusa, Abavo, and Kwale.
The statement reads in part, “Due to the superior firepower of the Police, ten of the suspected kidnappers/armed robbers were successfully neutralized while others escaped with gunshot injuries.
“Five AK 47 rifles, six magazines, and one hundred and seventeen (117) rounds of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered from them.
“The CP while assuring residents that the Command will continue to sustain this tempo, also urges members of the public, vigilantes, Anti-Cult volunteers, and other non State actors to continue to partner with the Police to ensure that Delta state will never be a haven for criminals,” it said.
