Vigilante Chairman, Member Killed In Delta Community

Afimag.com –

Unknown gunmen have on Thursday shot two members of vigilantes group death in Amukpe, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

The sad incident metamorphosed to road barricades and burning of tyres on the streets of Amukpe by furious youths who protested against the insecurity in the nation.

Sources who spoke with our correspondent alleged that the occupants of a Venza intercepted the vigilantes’ vehicle at the Amukpe motor park area and riddled the occupants with gunshots.

“The Hilux, in an attempt to evade the gun fire, tried to escape but rather ran into the pole of one of the street lights along the road.

“The hoodlums drove to where the Hilux Van was stuck and started shooting the occupants, killing the Amukpe vigilantes Chairman, Mr. Glory and the other occupant, Mr. Gift.

“The youths are angry over the situation and the insecurity in the town. Since Friday till today (Saturday), they still block the road,” he alleged.

Reacting, the Sapele Local Government Area Chairman, Hon. Eugene Inoaghan, who said the perpetrators must be brought to book, assured residents that the police would soon restore order in the troubled areas.

The Delta State Police command, however, has not made an official statement on the incident at the time of filing this report.
