Agriculture Key to Nigeria’s economic future, says Muoboghare

Prof. Patrick Muoboghare, Director of Stepat Farms, Edjekota-Ogor, Ughelli, in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, has called on Nigerian youths to explore agriculture as a means of economic empowerment and national development.

Speaking at a media engagement in Ughelli on Wednesday, Muoboghare highlighted agriculture’s potential to address youth unemployment, improve food security, and drive economic growth.

“The future of Nigeria’s economy lies in agriculture,” he stated. With Nigeria’s fertile land and youthful population, Muoboghare believes the country can build a thriving agricultural sector that transforms lives and communities.

The formal lecturer of Delta State University, Abraka, urged government and private stakeholders to support youth-led agricultural initiatives through funding, training, and modern farming technologies.

He said, “Fund is the driving force. You cannot undermine the enomous resources needed to make it work. Government and stakeholders can be of support to youths indulging in commercial farming.”

According to him, such efforts would reduce reliance on oil revenue and stimulate personal and economic growth.

“With our fertile land and energetic youth population, I can’t advise any graduate to waste his/her time applying for white colar job. We have all it takes to build a thriving agricultural sector capable of transforming lives and communities. It will also reduce the attention on the oil sector,” said Muoboghare.

Stepat Farms, under Muoboghare’s leadership, has been source of inspiration for young farmers in Delta State through training programs and practical support, serving as a model for youth-driven agricultural enterprise in Nigeria.
