Amazon Sets To Open It’s African Headquarters In South Africa
An American multinational technology company, Amazon has said that it is set to establish its African Headquarters in South Africa.
The Cape Town authorities who made it known to the public said the marketing giant will settle down in River Club, a prime section of the city.
The development design creates a 150,000 square metre mixed-used space, for commercial and housing purposes across the two provinces.
Other areas of development include 59,600 sqm office space, 20,700 sqm retail space, 8,200 sqm hotel, 4,100 sqm gym., Restaurants, conferencing, school and events space.
About 5,250 jobs will be created at the construction stage. While the project will create more than 18,000 indirect and induced jobs in Cape Town, South Africa’s South-West Coast.
The project will in no doubts boost the South Africa economy after the scourge of Covid-19 pandemic.
It is recalled that Twitter last week, has chosen Ghana for its African Headquarters, saying that Ghana’s economic growth made it a highly competitive destination over other African countries.
It is however, not clear whether the Retail Giant, Amazon was on the same page with Twitter while considering South Africa for its headquarters.
