Crypto Gains Relevance As New York’s Next Mayor Wants to Be Paid in Bitcoin

Mayor-elect for New York City, Eric Adams has said that he preferred his first three months’ salary paid in bitcoin.

Eric Adams on social media said he would like to receive his first three paychecks in bitcoin.

It was learned that Eric Adams was elected to take over from Mayor Bill de Blasio whose tenure would expire in January 2022.

While emphasizing the significance of digital currency, the former police boss disclosed his intention to make New York the center of the cryptocurrencyency industry.

In a follow-up, the Mayor of Miami, Francis Saurez had earlier said he would take his first paycheck in bitcoin after he was reelected.

He pledged to make Miami a hub for cryptocurrency innovation.

At the time of filing this report, one bitcoin at the coin market cap is valued at $62, 443.69 with a 0.5 increase within the last 24hours.

Bitcoin was founded in 2008 by Satoshi Nakamoto but was launched in January 2009.
