Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Delta State, Festus Ahon, has been sworn in as a Justice of the Peace (JP) by the Delta State Government.
Ahon, who serves as CPS to Sheriff Oborevwori, was inaugurated alongside 65 other distinguished citizens during a ceremony organised by the Delta State Ministry of Justice on Monday.
The oath of office was administered by M. Gesikeme at High Court 1, Ughelli, in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.
In her charge, Justice Gesikeme urged the newly sworn-in Justices of the Peace to uphold integrity and promote peace within their respective communities, stressing that their appointments were a call to service and responsibility.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the ceremony, Ahon expressed gratitude to God and appreciation to the Delta State Government for the honour bestowed on him.
“I thank God Almighty for this recognition and the Delta State Government for finding me worthy of this responsibility. I will not betray the confidence reposed in me,” he said.
The newly inaugurated Justice of the Peace reaffirmed his commitment to fostering harmony and unity, noting that sustainable development can only thrive in a peaceful environment.
According to him, the ongoing development strides of the Oborevwori administration across Delta State can only be consolidated where peace and stability are maintained.
The event drew legal practitioners, government officials, family members and well-wishers who gathered to witness the formal induction of the new Justices of the Peace.
