Delta First Lady Inaugurates Cottage Hospital in Ughelli

The First Lady of Delta State, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, on December 2, 2025, commissioned the newly built Tobore Oborevwori Cottage Hospital, Ughelli, in Ughelli North Local Government Area.

The event marked a major step in the local government’s efforts to expand access to quality medical services as the facility serves as a significant boost to the state’s healthcare delivery system.

In her remarks, First Lady Tobore Oborevwori, expressed gratitude to the council boss for naming the facility after her, noting that the gesture reflected recognition of her contributions to the welfare of Deltans.

“It gladdens my heart to know that my modest contributions are being recognized and valued. It feels good to be home,” she said.

Deaconess Oborevwori commended the council chairman and his team for their commitment to improving healthcare access, adding that the project complements Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s people-focused reforms in the health sector.

She highlighted several recent achievements of the administration, including the reduction of dialysis fees from ₦75,000 to ₦40,000, the installation of new dialysis and CT scan machines in government hospitals, and the ongoing rehabilitation of 150 Primary Healthcare Centres across the 25 LGAs.

Appreciating the state government for his people-oriented projects, the First Lady said, “God will help the governor to achieve more. He is working, and it is showing.”

Mrs. Oborevwori also spoke on the impact of her ‘You Mata Charity Foundation,’ which recently conducted a free medical outreach for children with special needs in Ughelli, offering medications, wheelchairs, and assistive devices.

She recalled how a mother of newborn triplets received over ₦8.1 million donated spontaneously during the outreach, a gesture, she described as evidence of God’s grace.

She assured that similar medical outreaches would be conducted in Delta North and Delta South.

In his address, the Ughelli North LGA Chairman, Hon. Jaro Egbo said the cottage hospital is a fulfilment of his administration’s resolve to deliver quality healthcare, stressing that “healthcare is not a privilege for a few, but a right for all.”

He thanked Governor Oborevwori for providing the enabling environment that made the project possible under the Renewed Hope for MORE Agenda.

Egbo also appreciated the First Lady for her presence at the commissioning, describing her as a compassionate figure whose support and influence continue to inspire the Ughelli North community.

He urged residents to protect the facility from vandalism and embrace community ownership.

Chairman of the occasion and head of the Ughelli North Advisory Committee, Chief Miller Uloho, praised Governor Oborevwori’s leadership, noting his successful intervention in resolving land disputes in Osubi that once stalled airport development.

He commended Jaro Egbo for his performance and appealed to the First Lady to help ensure the hospital remains fully functional and properly maintained.

Executive Secretary of the Ughelli North Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Tega Ighovo, disclosed that the hospital is equipped with modern facilities, including diagnostic tools and an ambulance, positioning it to serve as a referral centre for primary healthcare clinics across the LGA.
