Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, will January 2024, boost Agricultural businesses in the state with two billion naira (N2 billion) Special Agricultural Intervention Fund.
This was made public during the inspection of the Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme at Mbiri Farm Settlement with thirty greenhouses for the cultivation of tomatoes and other vegetables in the Ika North local government area of the state by the governor and his team.
Oborevwori, also, visited the Agro-Industrial Park, Aboh-Ogwashi for rice milling in Aniocha South local government area.
He said his government is committed to improving the agricultural value chain that would ensure food security and job creation in the state.
According to him, his administration would further redirect the Ministry of Works to make roads more accessible to easy transportation of farm produce.
Earlier, the Delta State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resource, Mr. Perez Omoun, said under the Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme, the State Government had established three greenhouse farms at Mbiri, Kpakiama and Deghele.
On his part, the Obi of Mbiri Kingdom, Obi Ifeanyichukwu Alekwe, 11, thanked the Governor for visiting the community and appealed for the construction of the farm settlement road and the establishment of a College of Agriculture in the community.
