A statement by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed that the coordinated operations were carried out under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, and were made possible through timely intelligence from members of the public.

According to him, on August 5, 2025, officers from B Division, Asaba, acting on credible information, intercepted a suspected stolen Mercedes Benz GLK (registration number NZM10AP) at a parking lot on Former Deputy Road, Asaba.

Edafe added that the police, in another incident on August 4, 2025, at about 4:30 a.m., a distress call alerted the Ogwashi-Uku Police Division to an armed robbery in progress along Chelsea Street. The Divisional Police Officer, CSP Okoyomon Israel, mobilised the Anti-Crime Squad in collaboration with local vigilantes.

Two suspects, identified as Thywill Selvin, 22, and Guntim Bako, 32, were arrested. Items recovered include one pump action rifle with one live cartridge, one Beretta pistol with six live rounds, three live assault rifle ammunition, two motorcycles, 25 mobile phones, four laptops, a tablet, a PS4 game console, a home theatre set, two Zealot music players, and bags containing clothes and other valuables.
