Delta Police Present ₦37.6m to Families of Fallen Officers

The Delta State Police Command has presented cheques totaling ₦37,663,936 to the families of 35 police officers who died in active service.

The presentation, held on August 12, 2025, was conducted by the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM. The payments were made under the IGP Family Welfare Scheme and the Group Life Assurance policy.

Speaking at the event, CP Abaniwonda commended the sacrifices made by the deceased officers, assuring their families that the Nigeria Police Force values their service and will continue to prioritize the welfare of both serving and late officers’ dependents.

“This gesture is to let you know that although your loved ones are no longer with us, the Force has not forgotten their sacrifices,” the Commissioner stated, adding that the funds would help support the beneficiaries during this period of loss.

One of the beneficiaries, Miss Chidinma Paul, expressed gratitude to the IGP for the support, pledging that the funds would be used wisely.
