DPO, Civilian, Others Killed By Bandits In Zamfara

The ugly drum of insecurity has sounded loud once again following the Maru town attack, the headquarters of Maru local government area of Zamfara State by bandits.

The attack which recorded the killing of a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), one other police official and a civilian, took place on March 03, 2023.

It was learned that, bandits, in large numbers stormed the town with the purpose of abducting the residents of the area and securing foodstuffs.

Upon getting the information on the operation, the divisional police officer, Kazeem Raheem, quickly mobilized his men and local security outfit in the local government to confront the bandits in an effort to scare them away.

Consequently, the DPO, a vigilante personnel and one other police officer were shot dead by the bandits during the process.

The community dwellers scamper for their safety as scores were abducted with foodstuffs cartered away by the bandits.

The State police command have not reacted to the incident at the time of filing this report.
