The Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Government on Human Rights, Comrade Kelvin Ejumudo, has extended heartfelt greetings to the Christian community, while emphasizing the critical need for interfaith harmony and mutual respect among citizens of diverse religious backgrounds.
Ejumudo called on Christians to not only reflect on the significance of Christ’s resurrection but to also actively embody the core values of love, sacrifice, compassion, and unity, saying that these values the form the cornerstone of the Easter celebration.
“Easter is a time of renewal, hope, and reflection on the enduring teachings of Jesus Christ,” Ejumudo stated. “As followers of Christ, it is our duty to extend these virtues beyond our faith communities and into the broader society. We must embrace and live out the principles of peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and mutual understanding with people of all religious beliefs.”
He further urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith, while also being champions of national unity and peaceful interreligious engagement.
According to the Human Rights Advocate, the strength of any society lies in its ability to manage diversity with fairness and inclusivity.
“As we celebrate this holy season, let us remember that our shared humanity transcends religious differences. I call on all Christians to be patriotic to their faith, but also to stand as symbols of peace, not only within the church but in their neighborhoods, workplaces, and across every sphere of life,” he added.
Ejumudo, who serves as the government’s focal person on human rights issues in Delta State, stressed the importance of upholding the dignity and rights of every individual, irrespective of their faith.
He noted that in a multi-religious and multicultural society like Nigeria, building bridges of trust and dialogue is essential to achieving lasting peace and development.
His Easter message aligns with the broader vision of the Delta State Government to promote social cohesion, protect human rights, and ensure peaceful coexistence among all residents of the state.
Ejumudo’s call serves as a timely reminder for all Deltans and Nigerians at large to deepen the values of unity, empathy, and respect for one another, paving the way for a more inclusive and harmonious society.
