A wave of panic that swept through Kwale in Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Delta State, on Monday has been put to rest after thorough investigations confirmed that rumors of kidnappers invading the Girls Secondary School, Kwale, were unfounded.
The students of the institution were running helter‑skelter on the streets during school hours, following a false kidnapping alarm raised by unknown sources.
Reacting to the development, the President General of Utagba-Ogbe, Kwale Kingdom, Chief (Engr.) Godwin Ifeanyi Edeme, swiftly intervened upon receiving the disturbing report.
He immediately reached out to the Executive Chairman of Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Hon. (Chief) Dr. Goddey Obi Nzete, along with relevant security agencies, to ascertain the facts.
A statement from the PG’s office said the security operatives promptly arrived at the school, conducted a comprehensive assessment, and found no evidence of any kidnapping attempt or security breach. The widely circulated report was declared a false alarm.
Chief Edeme has since called on residents, especially parents and guardians, to remain calm and continue their daily activities without fear.
He reiterated that security agencies in the area are vigilant, proactive, and committed to safeguarding lives and property across Utagba-Ogbe Kingdom.
He further appealed to the public to desist from spreading unverified information, noting that false reports can trigger unnecessary panic, disrupt community peace, and divert security resources from genuine threats.
The President General assured the community that the safety of students and the general wellbeing of Utagba-Ogbe Kingdom remain top priorities for both local authorities and security agencies.
