Former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Professor Onje Gye-Wado has been abducted on the night of April 06, 2023, after 46 persons were killed in a renewed attack in Benue State.
Gye-Wado was kidnapped at his residence in Rinza village, Wamba local government area of the state a few minutes before midnight on Thursday.
It was gathered that the kidnappers gained entrance into the compound through the fence, burgled his wife’s window and went away with the former deputy governor to an unknown destination.

It was further gathered that the victim has been surviving kidnapped attempts and one of his cousin was shot dead in one of the failed attempts.
Recall that Prof Onje Gye-Wado deputy governor under, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, between 1999 to 2003.
Reacting, the Nasarawa state police command in a statement, confirmed the incident, saying the command would do everything possible to rescue the victim.
It said, “Information received by the command indicated that on 7/4/2023 at about 12:30am, unknown gunmen invaded Gwagi village in Wamba LGA, broke into the residence of one Prof. Onje Gye-wado and abducted him to an unknown destination.
“Upon receipt of the information, Police operatives attached to Wamba Division swiftly moved to the scene, but the abductors had fled with the victim before the police arrival.
