How Nigerians Can Apply For Indian Government Scholarship, Says Nig Scholarship Board

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi has invited applications from suitable Nigerians and other foreign students for scholarship grant.

The scholarship is meant for students seeking to pursue Higher Studies at the Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Ph.D levels in Indian Educational Institutes/University for the 2021-2022 academic year.

According to the statement signed by the Federal Scholarship Board Management, the courses available for study are Sciences, Humanities, Commerce, and Engineering, except Medical Studies.

It emphasized that students from Nigeria, having a good academic record With minimum 60% marks or GPA 3 out of GPA 5 in qualifying Examinations and proficient in English, are welcome to apply for the ICCR scholarships.

The Board noted that interested students were asked to create an account on the official website of ICCR before applying online for the scholarship.

“Applicants should be between 18-30 years at the time of admission. Applicants can apply to five Universities/Institutes in order of preference.

“Applicants should visit the State University website for details and guides before applying. The mark sheet for levels 10 and 10+2 of school and other relevant documents required by the University must be uploaded along with transcripts in English,” the statement reads.

The Board further stressed that a 500 word essay in English needs to be submitted to ascertain English proficiency. Students can also submit their TOFEL/IELTS/ Standardized Test scores, if available.

“University/Institutions may also conduct an online interview for applicants. Shortlisted students would appear for personal interview and verification at the Indian High Commission.

“Health certificate is important. The deadline for online submission is April 30, 2021,” the Statement added.
