How Two Catholic Priests Were Abducted In Benue

Unknown gunmen have abducted the Parish Priest of Saint Margaret’s Catholic Church, Ajegbe Awume, Ohimini Local Government Area, Benue state, Rev. Fr. Anthony Adikwu.

The Priest was kidnaped on the night of June 15, 2023, by men heavily armed with sophisticated weapons.

AFIMAG gathered that the abductors who entered the Parish compound shooting sporadically before breaking into the Priest’s house and whisked him away to unknown destination.

It was further gathered that the kidnapped Priest was deployed to the parish about six months ago after another Priest and Chaplain of Saint Mary’s Hospital, Okpoga in the same Otukpo Diocese, Rev. Fr. Mark Ojotu was also abducted along Okpoga-Ojapo road, Okpokwu LGA.

Reacting, the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent, SP, Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident, saying that the matter was reported to the police on June 16, 2023.

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a Catholic priest of Otukpo Diocese in Benue state, Rev. Father Mark Ojotu.

Ojotu is said to be the Chaplain of St. Mary’s Hospital, Okpoga, in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue state under Otukpo diocese.

The victim was abducted along Okpoga-Ojapo road on Thursday. He is the Chaplain of St. Mary’s Hospital, Okpoga.
