Afimag.com –
A 35-year-old man identified as Olorunfemi Tope, has been killed in a mob attack at the Ijoka Area of Akure, the Ondo State capital, for crushing two persons on April 10, 2023.
An eyewitness who preferred anonymity told our Senior Correspondent that Tope’s Toyota Camry veered off its lane and stumbled on two commercial motorcycles.
The sympathisers who hurried to the scene to rescue the driver found some fetish items inside the vehicle which made them feel that the driver was a ‘Yahoo boy.’
The mob, however, descended on the driver, beat him to death and put his car on fire.

Commenting, the state Police Public Relations Office, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident saying “only two persons were confirmed dead in the incident while the injured were taken to the hospital for medications.
Odunlami added that there was an accident case that led to the death of a motorcycle operator but the people resorted to jungle justice, alleging that the driver was a Yahoo Boy.
“No one can confirm if the young man in question is an internet fraudster. There was an accident that led to the death of a motorcyclist, rather than people around to help, some resolved to jungle justice by killing the young man, Olorunfemi Tope, who drove the vehicle and set the car ablaze.
“But for the quick intervention of the police, his parents too would have been killed. In all, two people were confirmed dead while six others involved and injured in the accident are currently in the hospital,” he said.
