Nigeria Lights Tallest Christmas Tree In Africa

The 85 feet tall Christmas tree lit at the Exhibition Ground of the International Conference Centre Abuja is the tallest at the moment to be lit in Africa, radio Nigeria reports.

This is the highlight of the Christmas Village that was launched in the Federal Capital Territory to usher in a series of activities marking the 2023 Christmas festival in the capital city of Nigeria.

It was indeed a beautiful sight to behold as the somewhat darkened venue jerked into a bright, electrifying and bubbling atmosphere in a twinkle.

Malaysian Ambassador to Nigeria, Ms Sharmin Devi Gopal who led the countdown to the lighting of the giant tree studded with a huge star at its peak and millions of little light bulbs congratulated Nigeria for making history with the event.

Following the lighting, a series of event kept the guests entertained which included; Christmas Carol, Comedy, Dance Performances and gaming activities.

One of the two sisters behind the initiative, Valentine Igure said the Christmas Village has become a tourist site with the 85 feet tall tree.

Ms Igure added that the village was expecting to have an estimated number of 80,000 guests.

The Miss World Tanzania 2017, Julitha Kabete who was part of the organisers of the event said the plan was to replicate same across other nations.

A dance troupe from Cameroun, the Nigeria Police Force Band, and several other performances entertained the guests who came from within and outside the country.
