An online comedian who goes by the moniker “Panraran” has for long been a face known for clowning and buffoonery. Some enjoy him, others simply ignore him.
His recent outing in which he took on Chief Great Ogboru, a Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) shows that he has bowed to paymasters who have engaged him as a hireling for a cyberstalking mission against a man often referred to as the “Peoples General”.
Panraran’s online stage drama smacks of hate speech for several reasons. In the first place, Chief Great Ogboru has not declared an intention to run for governorship under ADC where he belongs. Ogboru has only made a statement that he intends to champion a viable opposition alternative in Delta state in order to bring in a new lease of life into governance.
Whichever way you view Chief Great Ogboru – one thing is clear – he has always been on the side of the masses since he ventured into politics more than two decades ago.
Ogboru has been the true face of opposition in Delta State for years. He has made Senators, House of Representatives members, House of Assembly members, and created platforms for opposition members to ventilate their political aspirations.
But for him, Delta State would have for long become a one Party State – the PDP – a phenomenon that is dangerous for democracy.
Chief Great Ogboru’s foray into ADC has again been seen as a welcome development in a state widely controlled by APC. Not a few Deltans see his new role as redemptive.
People believe in him because he has never craved for naked power. He would have long been a Senator if he wanted, but he sacrificed his time and resources for others . He had wanted to be Governor, not as an ambition but as a means of restoring hope to the hopeless and voice to the voiceless
The recent tirades of Panraran against Chief Great Ogboru is media licence taken too far – it is defamation of character, and it comes with legal consequences. Panraran made some allegations he cannot defend or substantiate. He merely pandered to sensation just to justify his pay.
Looking at Chief Great Ogboru’s pedigree and antecedents, one will find a man of peace who believes in the rule of law . He had fought his political oppression in courts – many times up to the Supreme Court. In the annals of Delta State polítics, a man like Chief Great Ogboru ought to be celebrated and not condemned .
Deltans should ignore Panraran as a man whose content creation lacks credible content that should be consigned into the dustbin of history
