SMEDAN Establishes Special Council For Women, Youth Empowerment

The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Uju Kenedy-Ohaneye, has established a special unit at the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) to oversee the entrepreneurial affairs of women and youths in Nigeria.

A statement by her media aide, Ohaeri Joseph, extolled SMEDAN’s management for incorporating women and youths into its empowerment initiatives, aligning with the current administration’s focus on revitalizing economic prospects.

She expressed satisfaction with the advanced tools available at the facility and conveyed the ministry’s readiness to collaborate with SMEDAN for inclusive growth and women’s empowerment.

Furthermore, the minister announced the ministry’s intention to integrate SMEDAN into its e-portal, serving as a one-stop-shop to facilitate marketing and enhance commercial activities between women entrepreneurs and end-users of their products and services.

The Director General of SMEDAN, Mr. Charles Odii, emphasized the significance of the common desk for women and youth empowerment, highlighting the agency’s commitment to addressing demographic challenges.

He said the newly established desk would concentrate on facilitating capital, training, and market access.
