Soludo Speaks on Obiano’s Death Labels

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has firmly dismissed widespread social-media rumours claiming that former governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano, has died.

A statement by his Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, described the report alleging that Obiano passed away in a London hospital as “malicious, wicked, and utterly false.”

The governor said he personally spoke with Obiano and confirmed that the former governor was alive, healthy, and in good spirits.

“I view with grave concern the reckless circulation of such malicious rumours. It is both wicked and completely irresponsible,” Soludo said.

He urged media practitioners, especially online publishers, to uphold basic journalistic ethics by verifying information through official channels before publication. According to him, the spread of unverified death claims not only causes needless distress but also erodes public trust.

Soludo called on members of the public to disregard the trending false report and assured them that Obiano remained hale and hearty.

He wished the former governor continued strength, peace, and a long, fulfilling life.
