Nigeria’s Federal Government has allocated ₦3 billion to support the Super Eagles’ qualification bid for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This fund, captured in the 2025 budget, will be channeled through a Presidential Support Group (PSG) established to provide financial, administrative, and logistical backing to the team.
The PSG’s primary objective is to facilitate the Super Eagles’ successful qualification for the 2026 World Cup, scheduled to take place in America.
This development, however, comes at a critical juncture, as the team currently faces challenges in the qualifying stages.
Reacting, the Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, stressed the need of qualifying for the tournament, stating that failure to do so would be disastrous.
Meanwhile, defender Gabriel Osho remains optimistic about the team’s chances, citing their talent and quality as reasons to believe in their ability to qualify.
The ₦3 billion allocation demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting the team’s World Cup ambitions as the Super Eagles continue their qualification campaign, the PSG’s support will undoubtedly play a crucial role in their success.
