The pleasure and treasure of the just concluded 2022 World Cup have commenced in Argentina after beating France 4-2 in a penalty shootout at the Lusail Stadium in Lusail, Qatar to win the title on December 18, 2022.
Lionel Messi converted a penalty for Sebastian Scaloni’s side after Di Maria was brought down in the box in the 23rd minute.
Di Maria doubled the lead in the 36th minute into the first half following Messi’s brilliant move which saw the French defense devastated with the goalkeeper falling off the track.
Argentina displayed a high level of prowess and was in control of the game throughout the first half. France, in the first half, has zero goal attempts.
Dembele and Giroud were, however, substituted in the first half while Di Maria was substituted in the 64th minute with Acuna.
France fights from nowhere as they could not touch the ball in the Argentine’s box. In the 70th minute, Mbappe created a chance and blew it off the bar.
The 2022 World Cup ends with an interesting feature, seeing Argentina blowing off her golden opportunities. In the 79th minute, Mbappe scored a penalty and doubled in the 81st minute. France had two goal attempts two goals which took the game into 30 minutes of extra time.
After Lionel Messi scored in the 109th minute pushing Argentina ahead again, Mbappe leveled as the Argentine was booked in the box for a handball.
Argentina, however, defeated France 4-2 in a penalty shootout.
