Unknown Gunmen Kill Four US Officials In Anambra

No fewer than four persons suspected to be United States of America Embassy officials in Nigeria have been killed on May 16, 2023, in an attack at Ogbaru local government area of Anambra State.
Africa Investigative Magazine gathered that the officials were at Ogbaru community when the gunrunners spin their convoy with bullets, killing four persons in the process.
Confirming, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident, security officers have been deployed to Ogbaru community wherein four US citizens were killed by yet to be identified gunmen.

According to him, “Following the information of the shooting incident within Ogbaru community, the Commissioner of Police CP Echeng Echeng has deployed a police team led by the deputy commissioner of police in charge of operations to arrest the situation.
“Details of the incident are still sketchy, I will get back to you as soon as I can, please.
Reacting, the U.S Embassy in Nigeria said, “We confirm there was an incident on May 16 in Anambra state. U.S. Mission Nigeria personnel are working with Nigerian security services to investigate.
“The security of our personnel is always paramount, and we take extensive precautions when organizing trips to the field. We have no further comment at this time,” an official of US Mission Nigeria said.
