UPDATE: VP Osibanjo Decorates Alkali Usman As The New Police Boss

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday decorated Usman Alkali with the rank of Inspector General of Police.

The decoration ceremony took place at the Vice President Conference Hall, State House, Abuja.

The former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, the Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu witnessed the occasion.

Also present at the occasion were the Permanent Secretary, State House, Tijjani Umar, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Police Affairs and Vice President’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Laolu Akande.

It could be recalled that President Buhari on April 7,2021 appointed Alkali Usman as the Acting Inspector General of Police.

After decoration, the new Police Boss who promised to redeem the dignity of police in the country called on citizens to work with the Police to restore internal security.

Until his appointment, Usman Alkali was a Deputy Inspector General of Police, and will be in acting capacity pending his confirmation by the Senate.
