Why A Commercial Driver Set Traffic Officer Ablaze In Edo

A commercial driver popularly known as ‘Tuke-tuke’ has on February 09, 2024, set ablaze an officer of the Edo State Traffic Management Agency, EDSTMA.

The EDSTMA official was asked to take the driver, alleged to have committed a traffic offence yesterday and the vehicle to the EDSTMA office.

The driver, with a bus registration number, Osun FFE145XA, committed the offense by beating the traffic light at Adesuwa Junction along Sapele Road, Benin City.

When stopped by traffic official, the driver resisted arrest. The officer was said to have been directed to take the vehicle to the office of EDTSMA and in the process, the driver stripped himself naked, took a keg of petrol from his vehicle, poured it on him and set him ablaze.

At the time of filing this report, the EDSTMA is yet to issue an official statement regarding the inglorious incident.
