Yuletide: Ban On Fireworks Still In Force – Police

Delta State Commissioner of Police, Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA, psc+ has reinstated the ban on the use of fireworks during the festive period, saying that the Command will not fail to arrest and prosecute anyone found wanting.
This was contained in an E-Release disseminated by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright on December 20, 2022, and obtained by Africa Investigative Magazine.

The command noted that it would enforce all laws against the use of fireworks such as knockouts, banger, and other related materials during the season.
While urging parents and guardians to warn their children to abstain from it, the command advised the marketers to withdraw from distributing the products, noting that anyone arrested would face full weight of law.

The Release reads but in part, “The Commissioner of Police Delta State, CP Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA, psc+ has announced that the ban on the use of fireworks is still in force and that the Command will enforce all the extant laws prohibiting the use of fireworks such as ‘knock-out’, ‘banger’ etc especially during this Yuletide season.
“Parents/Guardians are advised to guide their children and wards to desist from using them. Retailers of such goods are equally warned to withdraw from the sales of these products as anyone arrested will be prosecuted.
“To this end, the CP has directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police officers and Tactical Commanders to ensure strict compliance with the ban on fireworks in their respective Areas of Responsibility,” it said.
