Tragedy struck in Jigawa State, Nigeria, after a fatal road accident claimed the lives of 10 people and left one person injured.
The accident occurred on November 11, 2024, at Yanfari village in the Taura Local Government Area, involving a Toyota Hummer bus and a parked trailer.
According to DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, the bus was traveling from Kano to Hadejia when it collided with the parked trailer, causing the bus to somersault.
The driver and nine passengers died at the scene, while one passenger sustained severe injuries.
Dsp Adam further explained that the police command has commenced an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
The surviving passenger is receiving treatment at Majia Primary Health Care Centre.
This tragic incident highlights the need for improved road safety measures in Nigeria.
Similar accidents have been reported in the country, with speeding and reckless driving often cited as contributing factors.
