Atiku Defeats Bragging Wike, Saraki, Others To Win PDP Presidential Ticket

The Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has emerged the presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 Presidential election.

Alhaji Atiku defeated the bragging Rivers State governor, Barr. Nysom Wike, the former senate president, Bukola Saraki, and former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose to clinch the position.

Others that contested the primaries with the PDP 2023 presidential flag bearer were Governor Udom Emmanuel, Governor Bala Muhammed, Alhaji Abubakar Tambuwa, among others.

Alhaji Atiku who also contested the presidential elections against President Buhari in the 2019 elections had 373 votes to fall Governor Wike who emerged the second position with a total vote of 224.

Former senate president Bukola Saraki was not favored in the 2019 elections and had in 2022 lost out in his bid to contest the 2023 presidential elections under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Saraki emerged the third position, scoring 68 votes. Emmanuel Udom scored 39 while Bala Muhammed had 19 votes. Pius, Nwachukwu, and Tambuwal have 13, 6, and 2 votes respectively.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will, however, face the Aso Rock race come 2023 against the candidate of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) who is yet to conduct her presidential primary election at the time of filing this report.
