Breaking:Oil Company To Pay Oil Producing Communities Stipend For Clean Water

Odili Ogochukwu –

The residents of oil producing communities in Ndokwa East and West Local Government Areas of Delta State have been urged to obtain an Oil Spill FUNT form for a stipend by Steering Global Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO).

The stipend is suspected to be for provision of a clean water to cushion the negative impact of oil spill which the communities’ dwellers have suffered from for more than a decade.

Recall that the people of Ndokwa Nation and SEEPCO have been at a loggerhead over the company’s refusal to purify their contaminated waters or provide an alternative for the communities to have access to healthy water.

In one of the protests necessitated by alleged Steering Global’s irregularities, concerned Ndokwa sons and daughters demanded their rights, asking the oil industry to supply the affected communities with clean waters.

After a brief meeting with selective dignitaries including Ndokwa East hostcom chairman on January 17, 2023, the OSF Tag-Form was made available to advance the course for provision of clean water for all the inhabitants in the area.

Consequently, indigenes were urged to obtain the forms at their respective Community Development Committee ‘s (CDC) Representatives, Hostcom Representatives, Radiance-Blu Hotel and Access Bank PLC.

Part of the form which emanated from FUNT Pioneering Team, forwarded to Africa Investigative Magazine notified the people of the release of the agreed Oil-Spill water Arrears payment.

While referring the Candidates to fill in their names, Bank Account Details, and their Communities in the form, it added that applicants would either be identified by Hostcom executives or CDC representatives, noting that the application elapses on January 21st, 2023.

However, a meeting has been scheduled for January 19, 2023 at Radiance-Blu Hotel, Kwale, Ndokwa West LGA, by 12 pm for more resolutions with SEEPCO’s officials.
