Columnist: NAIRA REDESIGN: THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE UGLY

MOMENT OF TRUTH with Richard.

By Richard Ugbeh –

“I just dey laugh” according to one of the ex-presidents of Nigeria. It sounds funny but real seen some of the state Governors with the support of few individuals kicking against the policy. Their reason is that the masses are suffering no access to cash for daily transactions and more. One may be forced to ask, are we in New Nigeria where the leaders fight for the masses?

Is like I’m in trance because hardships is not new to us in this country and never for once all these sets of people deemed it necessary to fight or react in this manner as currently witnessed.

A good policy no matter time of execution may have negative impact as such no time is better than now or never. The executors knew more than what ordinary people in the streets thought about the idea of the Naira redesign.

Yes we are affected by the Naira scarcity for the daily transactions but some are BADLY affected because the original intentions, especially this period of elections are thwarted.

Typical example of the rich also cry. People shouldn’t use the masses as a stepping stone to fight what they believe is inimical to achieve their selfish interest.

I remember it all as if it was yesterday. ASUU was on strike for nearly a year. Nobody absolutely, nobody fought for them like this. Boko Haram & Kidnapping still going, on nobody thought of going to Court even when heavy ransoms were paid, some were even killed after ransoms were paid.

Who is fighting for who?. We just dey laugh while we urge ourselves to be steadfast and persevere because the authority means well to the disadvantages, though the harrowing experience is much.

We shall laugh last. I don’t believe those people in question are fighting for us. Their reasons for the action is best known to them. Be rest assured that there is light at the dark end of the tunnel. This is the Moment of Truth saying it as it is. To your tent oh Israel.
