Odili Ogochukwu –
The National Director, General Human Rights Protection Congress, HRPC, Deacon Monday Enudi, has lauded the appointment of Comrade Victor Ojei, as the Senior Special Assistant to Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Civil Societies and Non-Governmental Organizations.
Deacon Enudi, who commended the Oborevwori for accommodating a human rights activist in his cabinet, described the appointment as a square peg in a square hole.
Celebrating the new governor’s SSA on civil societies and NGOs, Monday Enudi said Oborevwori has made a decision to better a lot of Nigerians.
According to him, Victor Ojei is one of the activists in the state who has proven his grit in championing activism with a total quality character and strength.
“Victor Ojei, popularly known as Wong Box is well known for his selflessness. He is an activist with a credible character. He is a voice to the voiceless; always standing for the oppressed. He ensures the right of every citizen is protected at all times,” said Enudi.
While saying that the activist engagement would thrive activism in the state, the National Director of HRPC appealed to Delta State Governor to appoint more activists and outstanding youths into the corridor of power, noting that youths are better in service delivery.
“We need more vibrant and erudite youths in government not only in Delta State but Nigeria at large. We need more activists and youths in the corridor of power. The system of government in Nigeria whereby old people are fixed in power should be discontinued,” he said.
Enudi stressed the need for the government to cease selecting aged people into offices, assuring that youths have all it takes to contribute meaningfully to achieving Oborevwori’s development agenda.
