The Delta State Police Command has recorded major successes in its fight against crime after intercepting an armed group, and seizing dangerous weapons.
According to a statement by the state police command spokesman, SP. Edafe Bright, the command also dismantled an organised drug syndicate in two intelligence-led operations across the state.
In the first operation, on January 22, 2026, at about 4:10 p.m., officers of the Command’s Buffalo Patrol Team intercepted a green Toyota Sienna at the Head Bridge boundary between Anambra and Delta states during a routine stop-and-search.
The vehicle, travelling from Anambra, was occupied by six individuals dressed in mufti who claimed they were in Delta State to welcome a visiting religious leader.
A thorough search of the vehicle, however, uncovered three pump-action guns, one locally fabricated dane gun, one battle axe, and 26 live cartridges.
The suspects, Nwanlioba Ikechukwu Dominic (62), Agbata Mathew (35), Osita Chineye (39), Favour Peterson (23), Prince Tochukwu (32), and Clement Nwakwa (51) were arrested and are in police custody as investigations continue.
In a related operation on January 20, 2026, at about 10:00 a.m., operatives of the Ugborikoko Division, under the supervision of Divisional Police Officer CSP Setemi Agbede-Zoukumor, conducted a targeted raid on an organised drug network within the community.
The operation began with the arrest of a suspected dealer, who provided information that led to the apprehension of six additional key suspects: Daniel Ojukwu, Rose Otofi, Osaro Okosu, Maro Ibecham, Fregene Victory, and Kevwe Irimoni. Searches of their residences yielded 52 packs of GM Gold Indian hemp, one pack of Canadian loud, 40 packs of Kolorado, 16 sachets of Swinol, 30 Tramadol tablets, 52 packs of loud, and two crushers believed to be used for processing and resale.
Delta State Police Commissioner CP Aina Adesola, however, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive, intelligence-driven policing, urging residents to remain law-abiding and to continue providing timely and credible information, assuring that all intelligence would be treated with strict confidentiality.
Investigations into both cases are ongoing, with the police vowing to continue targeted operations to protect lives and property across Delta State.
