Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, on April 12, 2023, received in audience the course 7′ participants of the Nigerian Naval War College who are on an environmental study tour in the State at the Conference Hall of Government House, Yenagoa.

The reason for the tour is to look into the issues of waterways inland security and social economic development to tap from the wealth of the marine domain which is the “blue economy.

Governor Diri stated that the only avenue to achieve this is a collaboration with the Navy and other maritime agencies in the country.

The team which comprised personnel from the Army, Airforce, and Navy was led by Rear Admiral S. A Akinwande, the Commandant of the War College.

His words, “Interestingly, all of you are not even of the Navy, you have an added mixture of all the other military in this course. I think that is the best way for us to collaborate and partner.

“Being the chairman of the State Security Council, I believe that the only way forward for us to have effective security in our country and in various State federating units is for this partnership and collaboration among the various security agencies, particularly the military.

“I am happy to note that the Navy is not alone here but we have other sister military bodies that are here in this course. I like to also appreciate the Nigerian Navy, they have been up and doing even in our just concluded election.

“The Navy played an impartial role, the Navy played a professional role. I like to call on the Navy to be apolitical and professional and continue to deliver the aims and objectives for which the Navy was established. We are proud of the Navy here in Bayelsa,” Governor Diri said.
