DSCTDA Begins Fresh Cleanup at Koka Bridge

The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has commenced a fresh intervention cleanup exercise at Koka Bridge in Asaba as part of efforts to sustain environmental sanitation within the state capital.

The exercise, which began on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, was undertaken by the Agency’s Environment Unit and focused on the removal of indiscriminately dumped refuse, littered human waste, and accumulated sand along the bridge corridor.

Leading the operation was the Head of Environment of the Agency, Mr. Isaac Nwosu, who supervised the cleanup to ensure the effective evacuation of waste materials and restoration of environmental order within the area.

Speaking on the development, the Director-General of the Agency, Mr. Patrick Ukah, said the intervention aligns with the Agency’s statutory mandate to maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and environmental sustainability across the capital territory.

Ukah emphasized that maintaining a clean and healthy environment in Asaba remains a top priority for the Agency, noting that the exercise will continue on Thursday with further cleaning operations and the evacuation of sand deposits within the bridge axis.

He called on residents and road users to support government efforts by refraining from indiscriminate dumping of refuse and adopting proper sanitation practices.
The cleanup forms part of DSCTDA’s ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting a cleaner, safer, and more environmentally friendly capital city.
