EFCC Arraigns Speaker, Four Others For Alleged Serminar Fraud
The Ondo State High Court, in Akure, has yesterday slated February 23, 2022, for the trial of the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Bamidele David Oleyeloogun.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had dragged the Speaker and two members of the assembly to court over misuse of N2.4million.
EFCC will also charge the speaker, former clerk of the Assembly, Bode Adeyelu, and three other staff of the Assembly to court.

The suspects were the lawmaker representing Akoko South West 1, Felemu Bankole, two civil servants attached to the Assembly; Olusegun Kayode and Afolabi O. J. were also included in the seminar fraud.
Africa Investigative Magazine gathered that the arraignment could not go on yesterday as a result of some uncontrolled circumstances at the court.
The Speaker’s lawyer, Dr. Remi Olatubora, SAN, told the court that his clients could not be arraigned because the commission did not follow the due process in serving them the charges.

Dr. Olatubora stated that EFCC did not indicate the charges against them so they could prepare for its defense.
In his response, the commission’s lawyer, Mr. K U. Kudus, appealed to the court to go ahead with the trial of the suspects and argued that he had served the suspects their charges through the House of Assembly.

Olatubora in an attempt to counter the commission’s position, explained that personal delivery is mandatory in criminal proceedings and failure to adhere to it will thwart court action in the case.
