Ethiope Federal Constituency Leaders Call for Stronger Representation, Prepare for 2027 Elections

Ethiope Federal Constituency leaders and stakeholders have voiced concerns over what they describe as a lack of effective representation by their current House of Representatives member, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, and pledged to mobilize the community toward improved political engagement in the 2027 elections.

The high-level strategic meeting, held over the weekend in Eku, Ethiope East Local Government Area, brought together political leaders, youth groups, community representatives, and opinion leaders from both Ethiope East and West. Participants expressed a desire to strengthen the constituency’s political voice and ensure more visible and responsive representation at the national level.

Former House member Hon. Halims Agoda highlighted the importance of active legislative participation. He emphasized that true representation involves regular presence in the House, active sponsorship of bills, and consistent advocacy for constituents’ interests. “We need a representative who will stand daily, speak boldly, and defend Ethiope Federal Constituency in the National Assembly,” Agoda said.

Agoda cited a recent incident in which Ethiope’s interests were defended by a neighboring lawmaker, underscoring the need for more proactive engagement by the constituency’s current representative.

Senator Ighoyota Amori, Chief Adviser to the Governor, and Chief Sunday Onoriode, State Director of Protocol, reaffirmed their commitment to political unity and grassroots mobilization. They stressed the importance of strengthening local political structures to ensure the constituency’s concerns are effectively represented.

Leaders of the local APC, including Chief Bernard Edewor, described the meeting as a step toward building a cohesive political coalition in preparation for the 2027 general elections. Participants also endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as their preferred candidates for the upcoming presidential and gubernatorial elections.

The meeting concluded with a clear resolution to ensure Ethiope Federal Constituency has a stronger, more effective voice in the National Assembly and to actively participate in shaping its political future.
