FCT Market Gets Automated Security Gadgets

Afimag.com –

The Abuja Markets Management Limited has established an automated access machine at the Garki Market, Abuja to enhance security and parking structures in the market.

During the inspection of the automated machine on August 11, 2023, at the market, the Managing Director of the firm, Alhaji Abubakar Faruk, said the initiative became imperative to leverage technology for adequate security.

Alhaji Faruk explained that they pioneered the automation process in the FCT.

‘’We want to improve security and packing efficiency within the market, with automation, people will be time conscious. We want to make the market conducive and seamless, where you can come, do your business, and leave, He stated.

According to Alhaji Faruk, the Automated Access Machine has an inbuilt camera that captures all vehicles entering the market and helps to control traffic.

He explained that the automation would be introduced in other markets, while similar deployment had been done in the Wuse market, but the project, which was at 95% completion, would be completed soon.

‘’In the Wuse market, we have similar deployments like this, we have achieved 95% completion, with just one remaining test run, but because of the issues we are having with Abuja investment, the project is stalled, and our equipment is there unprotected, so hopefully we will come to a consensus and we hope to go back and conclude the automation’’.

The Northern Head of Interswitch, managers of the automated access machine, Ayo Owo said there was enough technology deployed to ensure that the machine was working and properly maintained with ease.

He said that system was automated so that it could manage itself for sustainability.
