Afimag.com –

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, has debunked the rumour that he has some scores to settle with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Peter Obi said he entertained no grudges with anybody including the President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, regarding his declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.

Obi disclosed this in an interview with Arise TV on March 13, 2023, monitored by Africa Investigative Magazine (AFIMAG).

The former Anambra State governor who said he had no rift with Bola Tinubu over the outcome of the presidential polls said he is only challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the process through which Tinubu was declared the winner of the election.

“I have no issues with Tinubu. He is somebody I have so much respect for as a brother and regard as a father. I am only challenging the process through which INEC declared him as the President-elect. I have no issues with his declaration as the President-elect.”

Obi called on INEC authorities to rise up to the responsibility of helping Nigeria to build a viable global image by conducting free, credible and transparent elections.

According to him, “We are committed to a new Nigeria. We must do everything that is right. We need to build strong democratic institutions that will teach people what their job requires and what government is all about.”
