Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has described late senator Patrick Osakwe as a patriot who brought sustainable development to his people.

Senator Osakwe was said to have died in London Hospital on March 15, 2022.

While Late Senator Patrick Osakwe served as a senator representing Delta North senatorial district for three tenures, his son Hon Ifeanyi Osakwe was a two term chairman, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Delta State.

Hear Obaseki: “It is with a heavy heart that I mourn the passing of Senator Patrick Enebeli Osakwe, who served as Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District between 1999 and 2011.

“Senator Osakwe was a consummate patriot who served his people diligently and championed causes that brought about sustainable development.

“He was an advocate for resource control and one with a fierce belief in the power of hard work, diligence and free enterprise.

“The Senator’s foray into the business world led to the setting up of successful enterprises in the hospitality and tourism space within and outside Delta State.

“He will be remembered for his conviviality, candour, compassion and commitment to the progress and development of the people of Delta North in particular and Nigeria at large.

“I commiserate with the Osakwe family, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, the people of Delta North as well as friends and associates and pray that God will grant all the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he said.
