Infuriated Awoniyi Slams Fan Over Twitter Post

Nigerian and Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, has reacted to claims that he missed the mark in the Premier League some months after his arrival at the City.

The 25-year-old is working his career back to England after lavishing six seasons with Liverpool without a first-team appearance.

Recall that the Nigerian striker joined Bundesliga side Union Berlin and scored 25 goals in 65 appearances. It was this record that endeared the Nottingham Forest to come for him.

However, Awoniyi has not been at top form. He struggled to score five goals in 19 appearances in all competitions for Nottingham Forest. Presently, He is weighed by an injury.

A Twitter user Mavs69 @Mr_jb_Maverick, while replying to a tweet, tagged Awoniyi, Claudio Pizzaro and Emmanuel Dennis Premier League flops, saying, “Did you forget or intentionally omitted Kezmam, Claudio Pizzaro, Emmanuel Dennis, Taiwo Awoniyi and the others that came with higher reputations flopped heavily? The EPL is different in terms of pace and space and you know it, stop being a hypocrite.”

In his reaction, Awoniyi, who was furious over the tweet, said that Mr_jb_Maverick has limited awareness and scoop of football game.

He said, “I hope some people can be well informed or educated on what’s football, especially Nigeria (sic),” Awoniyi said on his official Twitter handle.

“I believe it will help, so most people won’t just come here and just put up a tweet anyhow.

“Unfortunately the well-educated also have sides and favouritism. That’s why will (sic) end up missing d [World] Cup.”
