NNU Seeks Continued Cooperation with Delta State Government for Ndokwa Development

The president general of Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU), Comrade Amechi Asuguni, has expressed commitment to driving engagements with the Delta State government to achieve tangible development across Ndokwa land.

Speaking during the NNU Executive Council’s Inaugural Thanksgiving Service held in Kwale, Delta State, Comrade Asuguni highlighted the Union’s early strides since assuming office, saying that the Union has hit the ground running since they assumed office.

He said, “On 22nd March 2025, we convened the first-ever stakeholders meeting where a 13-point agenda was adopted as our foundational blueprint.”

The President-General noted that the new leadership has since embarked on an appreciation tour across various royal palaces and clan leaderships to seek blessings, foster goodwill, and deepen grassroots collaboration.

He said, “We understand that true development must be people-driven, and our traditional institutions remain key partners in this journey.”

Reaffirming NNU’s readiness to work with government agencies, Asuguni stressed that the Union is committed to initiating and sustaining engagements with the Delta State Government, aimed at delivering tangible and visible progress across Ndokwa communities.

“We earnestly seek the continued cooperation, understanding, and partnership of both our Deputy Governor and the Managing Director of DESOPADEC to actualize the development vision we share for our people,” he said.

On the issue of equitable rewards for political support, Asuguni noted that the Ndokwa people voted overwhelmingly for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E Agenda and deserve to feel the impact of their support.

“It is our hope that our people feel sufficiently rewarded for their massive and unwavering support for the incumbent Governor. Human capital and infrastructural developments are core dividends of democracy, and Ndokwa is looking forward to receiving more of these dividends,” he stated.

Speaking shortly after the occasion, the union’s image maker, Comrade Justice Odanike, expressed satisfaction over the outcome of the occasion and said the Union is committed to putting a square peg in a square hole.

He said, “The people of Ndokwa nation have elected capable hands to steer the affairs of NNU. The present excos of the Ndokwa Neku Union have been tested and proven worthy of excellence.

“We are people of integrity, transparency and result oriented. Government officials are present in today’s  (June 15, 2025) occasion is because NNU Executives will harness the relationship between the present and past governors of Delta State for the development of Ndokwa nation.”

The thanksgiving service brought together key stakeholders, traditional leaders, community members, and political actors, marking a solemn yet strategic beginning for the newly inaugurated NNU Executive Council.
