Qatar 2022: How Black Stars Clip Super Eagles Wings

The Black Stars of Ghana, yesterday, March 29, 2022 was included in the list of African Countries that have qualified for 2022 World Cup.

Ghanian players clipped Nigerian Super Eagles’ wings, from frying to World Cup finals scheduled for November, 2022,  after a 1-1.

The draw against Nigeria was end of road to the World Cup journey as Ghana qualified through the away goal rule after a 0-0 draw in the first leg.

The four African countries that have booked their spaces in Qatar were Ghana, Cameroon, Senegal and Tunisia.

After the match, angry Nigerian fans stormed the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, as Super Eagles failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.

The security operatives could not help as the angry youths were wide, pulling down the facilities in the pitch.

Nigerians, however, blamed it on goalkeeper Francis Uzoho for  allowing a ball from a distance into the net.

Thomas Partey of Arsenal FC put Ghana in early lead, 10 minutes into the first half as he fired in a strike from the edge of the box which went through Francis Uzoho into goal.

Super Eagles, later, controled the game and equalized after Ademola Lookman was brought down in the Ghana box by Dennis Odoi.

The conversion of the penalty to goal by William Troost-Ekong was not enough to give Austine Eguavon’s side the desired result.

Nigeria ought to have taken the lead at the 34th minute but was disappointed as VAR disallowed Victor Osimhen’s strike, saying it was offside.
