Unknown Gunmen Attack The Former CBN Governor During a Town Hall Meeting

The Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, speaks up 24 hours after gunmen attacked him in Isuofia, killing three of his security aides.

Unidentified gunmen opened fire on the former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, at a town hall meeting in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Prof Soludo said the incident took several minutes of continuous gun battles going back and forth of stopping, starting again.

He said; “By the time we all came back, we saw three bodies lying in the pool of their blood. They were three policemen. May God grant their soul eternal rest.”

“At first I thought, maybe the policemen were shooting in the air. Until I began to hear people screaming and all of that and everybody just scampered for safety.”

“Just as I was about to wrap up the town hall meeting and said finally for them now to open up for comments and answers, gunshots began.”

While commiserating with the families of the dead officers, Prof Soludo promised to support them, describing the attack as senseless.

He stated that no political office holder worth the blood of a chicken, let alone innocent Nigerians.

Chukwuma Soludo prayed for the quick release of the Anambra State Commissioner for Public Utilities, Emeka Ezenwanne, who was kidnapped during the ugly incident.

Meanwhile, a suspect has been arrested by security operatives in connection with the attack on the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
