Monday Okpebholo sworn in as Edo new governor

Monday Okpebholo has been sworn in on November 12, 2024, as the new governor of Edo State, marking the beginning of a new era in the state’s politics.

Okpebholo, who was declared winner of the Edo State gubernatorial election in  September 2024, by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, with 291,667 votes, took his oath of office at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, the state capital.

Dennis Idahosa was also sworn in as the deputy governor of the state.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Chairman of the Governors’ Forum, and other governors from the All Progrrssives Congress, APC.

As Okpebholo takes the reigns, he inherits a state with its unique set of challenges and opportunities.

With his campaign promises and vision for the state, the people of Edo are eagerly waiting to see the impact of his administration after the struggle for power with the immediate past Governor Godwin Obaseki.
